  sw CacheSentry
http://www.mindspring.com/~dpoch/enigmatic/index.html
This utility fixes some serious bugs in the cache manager of all versions of Internet Explorer. These bugs affect the speed at which web pages that have been previously visited are recalled, keep subscribed content from staying cached, wastes space on the hard drive, and stores the cache size incorrectly.

  sw Proxomitron
http://www.proxomitron.info/45/help/Contents.html
The ulitimate in pre-emptive strike. Proxomitron does everything getting rid of many common annoyances. The task is as simple as clicking on one of the filtering rules included with the program, but best of all, the Proxomitron's rules aren't "hard-coded". You can look at them, modify them, even write entirely new ones! If you know some HTML, you'll find the Proxomitron allows you to personally customize just about any web page you view. Besides filtering web pages, The Proxomitron also allows you to control the normally hidden HTTP header messages that pass between your browser and the outside world. Extremely customizable but you gotta be a hacker, i.e., willing to lift the hood and get dirty. Not for the faint-hearted. This software is unparallelled in what it does; however, it's high maintenance so I don't install it typically; however, I do like to let users know that there are options. btw, recently, the developer has decided (for the 2nd time in the last few years) to cease working on it but that's not an issue b/c what it does doesn't require constant support like an Ad-aware; and it's got a huge fan base that fills the developer's role.
