Bust Cup Adjustments in Commercial Patterns
A Proven Method

One of the most frustrating issues in sewing is fit. After fitting thousands of garments on figures ranging from fully developed women 3-1/2 feet tall, through plus size women with G size cups, Colleen Jones can teach you a thing or two about fitting different bust sizes! Commercial patterns are drafted for a "B" cup size. The average American women is now a "C" cup size.

If you, or the person you are sewing for is not a "B" cup size, how do you adjust? The method just got easier! Following simple directions and line drawings in the booklet Bust Cup Adjustments in Commercial Patterns, A Proven Method, you too can have perfect fitting garments.

How this all got started: Back in 1995, Colleen belonged to an internet chat group for plus sized women. One of their chief complaints was that patterns did not fit in the bust area. Colleen quickly jotted down some notes and passed them onto the list. Hundreds of women followed the instructions without pictures and achieved better fitting patterns!

Word spread quickly through the sewing ranks, and Colleen was eventually asked to present this method at the Professional Association of Custom Clothiers National Convention. For this class, she added detailed diagrams to the notes and bound them into a booklet. The same booklet that can be ordered from her today.

From that first class of 35 people in New Jersey, the inquiries came pouring in to see if the booklet was available for sale to others.

Now it is available to home sewists everywhere!

In addition to the detailed instructions and templates, there is an essential guide on how to find the bust position on most major patterns -- something that is like finding a needle in a haystack! This easy to follow chart leads you through locating, then adjusting the cup size on the bust -- no more gapping armholes, no more buckling necklines. Amazing.

Ms. Jones is currently working for a lingerie manufacturer as a Technical Clothing Designer. During her travels both nationally and internationally, the major part of her job is spent perfecting the fit of garments on live fit models for Companies such as: Victoria's Secret Stores, Victoria's Secret Catalog, Lane Bryant, Lasenza (UK and Canada), Avon Catalog Apparel and others. Her knowledge of fit, fashion and pattern making is extensive, and her booklet will help YOU achieve perfect fit in your garments.
